Sherry is completing her PhD in Clinical Psychology at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Although she initially wanted to become a researcher, learning and practicing full-model DBT as part of her training ignited a passion for clinical work. Her research interests involving self-injury, suicide, and emotional dysregulation transitioned into a clinical focus on individuals with borderline personality disorder and related concerns. She completed her doctoral internship at Brattleboro Retreat in Vermont, where she provided services through the partial hospitalization/intensive outpatient programs and the outpatient clinic. Previously, Sherry received her MS in Psychology from Western Kentucky University, and her BA in Psychology from Pepperdine University.
In accordance with DBT, Sherry seeks to find nuance (the “both-and”) in situations and to help patients develop their own abilities to do so as part of building a life worth living. She strives to provide warm, validating care interspersed with honesty and humor, and is thrilled to be joining the PDBTI team as part of the Pathways to Mindful Eating Team. Outside of work, Sherry enjoys going on walks with her two cats, Maple and Clover (the DBT book-eater); hunting for vintage clothing; baking with her partner (especially their famous lemon cream cheese cookies); and learning about new things.
