COURSE DESCRIPTION
Building upon the March “Clinician Foundations” session, the advanced three-hour workshop deepens clinicians’ capacity to engage in culturally responsive clinical praxis grounded in Black Psychology and Liberation Psychology. Participants will examine how racial trauma and race-related stress influence identity, emotion, and relational patterns while exploring culturally rooted pathways toward collective healing and self-determination.
While Black and Liberation Psychology remain the guiding frameworks, clinicians will also learn how existing evidence-based strategies, such as DBT skills, can be intentionally integrated to support liberation-centered healing. Through case applications, experiential practice, and reflective discussion, participants will strengthen their ability to cultivate therapeutic spaces that honor cultural wisdom, empower clients, and promote liberation-oriented wellness alongside structured interventions.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this training, participants will be able to:
- Apply Black and Liberation Psychology frameworks to conceptualize racial trauma and race-related stress within culturally responsive clinical practice.
- Integrate at least two evidence-based skills (e.g., mindfulness, distress tolerance, or emotion regulation) in ways that align with Black cultural strengths, collective coping, and liberation-centered healing.
- Develop an individualized praxis plan that sustains anti-racist, community-informed, and liberation-centered approaches within their ongoing therapeutic work and organizational settings
