Alana Harris received her master’s in Rehabilitation Counseling from Virginia Commonwealth University. Prior to her work at the Portland DBT Institute, Alana served as a mental health provider and supervisor within a community based agency in Richmond, Virginia. Alana has worked with a diverse range of children, teens, adults and families. She has rendered services not only in outpatient settings but also in client’s homes. Alana has provided intensive in-home services to promote stabilization within immediate environments, help families build stronger connections and ultimately reduce individual/familial conflict. Her experience is primarily with high risk clients, trauma informed care, and chronic patterns of maladaptive behaviors. Alana enjoys integrating experiential and mindfulness based techniques into her practice to promote a stronger sense of self and how we relate to the world around us.

At PDBTI, Alana is part of the Teen and Family team. Alana fosters a safe therapeutic space assisting clients with cultivating perspective, self-awareness, and mastery of their own lives.
