This weekly 90 minute group provides education about Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), skills to manage PTSD symptoms, and information on evidence-based treatments. The purpose of the group is to inform about PTSD, not to treat individual participants’ PTSD directly. Therefore, participants’ individual trauma histories are not discussed in group.
This group, limited in size to no more than 7, is drawn from literature on PTSD, evidence-based practices for treating PTSD (CPT and Prolonged Exposure), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
This group is for those who experience posttraumatic symptoms due to traumas of all sorts, including but not limited to emotional, physical, or sexual abuse; neglect; traumatic bereavement; life-threatening diseases; being involved in natural or man-made disasters; witnessing these types of events; or learning about traumatic events others have experienced.
WHAT IS THE FIRST STEP TO GETTING STARTED?
For general information about the group, registration, insurance questions, and billing questions, please contact our referral coordinator Christopher Williams at (503) 290-3295, or firstname.lastname@example.org
We ask all individuals who wish to participate in services at Portland DBT Institute to complete an intake session in order to review goals of group, answers questions about the group process, create a brief treatment plan, and answer questions about billing and insurance procedures.
We can work with insurance providers to bill group services. We work with most insurance companies, and charge $75 per group if individuals wish to pay out-of-pocket.
